Kirite, Ethiopia

Medium Light, Strawberry
We always have high expectations of lots coming from METAD's Hambela Coffee Estate, and Kirite has met everyone. Its syrupy texture reminds us of strawberry jam, and its herbal, floral finish sips like a lavender apértif. The complexity of this lovely cup is one we could linger on all day.

Guji, Oromia, Ethiopia

METAD’s 200-hectare Hambela farm in the Oromia state of Guji includes a washing station, dry mill, drying beds, and a large warehouse. The farm is managed by its founders, the Adinew family, who also operate a flourishing out-growers program that gives local farmers the tools they need to better manage their farms.

1900-2200meters above sea level

Kirite is grown at 1900-2200 meters above sea level - some of the highest elevations one can grow coffee. After picking the coffee is de-pulped and fermented overnight, then soaked in freshwater, skin dried for an afternoon, and then moved to the main raised beds for the remainder of drying for about two weeks where it's turned continuously.
