Bringing It On Home

Born into a coffee-growing family, José studied accounting before coming back to his farm in 2009 and implementing upgrades which have allowed him to earn higher prices for his coffee, and enter competitions like Colombia's Cup of Excellence. Perhaps his biggest passion is the coffee laboratory he's been able to build—a proving ground for the experimentation and research he uses to fuel quality improvements.

GGET Coffee Geography

Small But Mighty

El Paraíso is a small farm—only three hectares—growing a range of coffee varieties including Bourbon, Sidra, Java, Castillo, and Gesha. For this coffee, we've purchased this small lot of washed Caturra. Along with El Paraíso, José has helped create a hub for neighboring producers with the Cooperativa de Cafés Especiales de Nariño, helping find a market for quality coffees—a pursuit which has helped him elevate his own farm's quality as part of Nariño coffee's rising tide.
