As with our Kenyan coffee offering, transportation logistics have been incredibly challenging this year due to the dangers for cargo ships leaving Djibouti and traveling past Yemen to the Suez canal. Fortunately for us (and you!), our importing partners were able to get the coffee moving early in the season, so we’re able to start roasting our Ethiopian coffees during the summer. This partucular lot comes from a washing station in the Uraga, Guji region and is owned by Habtamu Fekadu Aga, who purchased the mill in 2020. Habmatu has steadily made improvements to the facilities, installing new equipment, and instituting rigorous quality control processes. Washing stations like this often act as community hubs by providing agronomy education for farmers, interest free loans, and help on other community projects including helping with the renovation of a nearby school.
Guji Uraga, Ethiopia Espresso
Our first Ethiopian coffee of the year, Guji Uraga’s standout notes of apricot and apple are the perfect complement to the season.
