ABOUT GORE DAKO
Like Yukro, Gore Dako comes from Western Ethiopia in the Agaro Region, and comparably, these coffees are harvested early in the season for Ethiopia as a whole.
Gore Dako is part of the Kata Muduga Cooperative Union. Kata Muduga is the premiere cooperative union working in Agaro and the Jimma zone of Western Ethiopia. Lovers of Ethiopian coffee over the past several years will recognize other stations working within the Kata Muduga, such as Yukro, Nano Challa, Duromina, Biftu Gudina, and Birbirsa; many of which we’ve roasted at one point or another since 2018.
Gore Dako was created as part of USAID’s Technoserve project, which focused on improving the lives of African coffee farmers by helping them get higher prices for better-quality coffee. Needless to say, the project has been seen as a resounding success. Broadly speaking, an enormous number of the world’s best roasters now buy coffee from this part of the country, whereas 15 years ago it woud have been unheard of
