Chelbesa, Ethiopia

We have high hopes for washed coffees from Yirgacheffe—and this coffee exceeds those hopes deliciously! Look for a gorgeous florality with pink lemonade, watermelon rind, cherry, and mandarin orange notes. Stunner.

About Ethiopia Chelbesa

In 2017, Neguesse Debela started operating his first washing station in Worka Chelbesa, but quickly expanded in 2019 by buying another site a few kilometers away in a small sub area of Worka Chelbesa called Danche. The two sites, run by Negusse and his team, are the source of incredible washed and natural processed coffees, and also create unique experimental lots in an effort to always keep improving their quality.

Chelbessa Geography

Got to Gedeb

Yirgacheffe put washed Ethiopian coffees on the map when people fell in love with the floral and citric profiles the process brought out. While Yirgacheffe is itself a town, a small amount of coffee labeled as Yirgacheffe comes from the Oromia region that borders the western edge of Gedeo. The zone comprises 7 woredas including Gedeb, where Chelbesa comes from. Made up of Ethiopian landrace and JARC varieties, this is a wonderful expression of the region's best washed coffees.
