Donaldo Murcia, Honduras

We’re incredibly excited to offer Donaldo Murcia’s sweet, ripe coffee as a Filer offering for Honduras Week. Every year we are blown away by its overt sweetness and round acidity.

About Donaldo Murcia

When we met Donaldo Murcia in 2019, he was producing his first lot of specialty coffee after years of selling to the conventional market. He had no idea of what to call his farm because he never needed to name it. So we made the hike up 200m in elevation from his brother Ariel Murcia’s farm, and we found ourselves in an oasis of Pacas trees surrounded by flowers and butterflies. We began to call it El Santuario, and the name stuck. At 1780 masl, El Santuario is truly an ideal spot on the Santa Barbara Mountain for growing Pacas. It’s nestled into the mountainside, surrounded by forest and protected from harsh weather. In the past, we’ve served this coffee under the name El Santuario, but this year it’s returning as the producer himself.
