El Paraiso, Peru

El Paraiso, Peru

Cajamarca is one of Peru's finest coffee-producing regions, and this absolutely lively, lovely selection is in fact a paradise of fruit flavor. It might be inappropriate to serve El Paraiso in a punch bowl...but only a little.

About El Paraiso

The potential of this area within Cajamarca is great, and in recent years the producers in El Paraiso have benefitted from the involvement of organizations like our purchasing partners Falcon, which works primarily with farms in the higher altitudes where its agronomists have expertise. Through guidance on agriculture and planting—including moving away from the lower-quality Catimor variety—producers have seen greatly improved premiums for their higher quality yields.

GGET Coffee Geography

Mountain to Mountain

Surrounding the scenic village center of El Paraiso, Huabal District, producers grow Caturra, Bourbon, and Catimor coffee varieties at lofty heights between 1,800 and 2,0500 masl. Hubal itself spans multiple mountains, meaning climate and soil can vary considerably from farm to farm: some areas having wet, humid conditions and red, African-like soils, and others dry and hot. This all contributes to diverse and delicious cup profiles, and some very complex coffees.
