In 1995 Dominga and her husband purchased a plot of land with their savings on the very mountain they had worked as day laborers on local coffee and vegetable farms. At first the couple used the land for grazing cattle. But by 2004, after their children had grown, Dominga and her husband transitioned to vegetable farming. This would ultimately prove to be a roller coaster ride of success and setbacks due to market volatility. Their fortunes changed seven years ago, when a coffee producer friend recognized their land’s potential and encouraged them to try out the specialty coffee market. They ultimately took their friend’s advice and began cultivating Pacas plants. In 2019, they presented a sample of their lot to Beneficio San Vicente, to positive results. This opportunity led to further guidance and support from San Vicente to produce their inaugural micro-lot.
