Luis Alberto Jojoa worked for many years on a neighbor’s farm as a coffee picker before working up the courage to ask him to purchase a piece of land to grow and harvest coffee. His neighbor agreed, and after working five years to pay it off, Luis finally had his very own coffee farm. He fittingly named it La Perla del Otún, due to its place among the surrounding beauty. Like many of the specialty coffee producers we work with in Colombia, Luis attended SENA (The National Training Service) to increase his knowledge of high-quality coffee production. All of Luis’s hard work and extensive training paid off when he won first place in the 2006 Colombian Cup of Excellence. This win ultimately afforded Luis the opportunity to purchase additional land and increase his coffee production. We consider Luis an exceptional producer and look forward to working with him for years to come.
