About Ozolotepec

Mexican coffees remain underrated by the specialty coffee world: we're hoping to help change that narrative by investing heavily in quality producers like the San Juan Ozolotepec group, from whom we sourced the four small lots used in this espresso. In tasting, we always find some coffees are perfect for espresso——usually they’re the ones with delicate acidity, good body, texture, and clean sweetness. Try this one and believe us.

Within the mountains of the Sierra Sur is a group of small communities who share the Ozolotpepec name. Primarily consisting of indigenous Zapotec campesinos, these remote communities rely on coffee as their main source of income, with small farms planted on incredibly steep slopes—some above 2000 masl. Cherry is processed in the traditional household style, depulped, fermented, and dried on petate mats and patios. Farmers then transport parchment to the town center on donkeys, where it moves on to Oaxaca for dry milling.
