ABOUT FREDY AND WILMA BAUTISTA
Fredy and Wilma Bautista started their farm, Solangel—named after their son Angel—a few years ago, inspired by the success Fredy’s brother Neptaly found in specialty coffee. When our partnership began, only a small portion of their land was in full production. However, they have been steadily planting more trees each year, and now they’ve quadrupled the original number.
Though the farm isn’t at the highest elevation, its location on a slope opposite Lake Yojoa, shielded from winds, makes it an ideal spot for cultivating interesting coffee varieties. They built a micro mill at their home this past year to process their coffee, an exciting step in further raising the quality of their coffee. Wilma and Fredy’s coffee is another fine example from Santa Barbara, Honduras, one of our favorite regions.
