The coffees from Ngunguru are grown in volcanic soil, and the lots are made from small-holder contributors who each hold about 100 trees per household. As such, all the coffees produced are blends of varieties, which is the standard in Kenya. The consistent quality of Ngunguru comes from access to caring farmers, great terroir, and the diligence, skill, and attention to detail from the team at the factory.
The Ngunguru factory is a member of the larger co-op called Tekangu, which is known as one of the best co-ops in the country. Virtually every top roaster has carried coffee from them at one point or another.
